I chose a career in Photography that was the ‘invited lens’ - social Photography, hard work, horrible hours, but places where folk wanted a photographer to be there. No great risks, some of the time paid OK, was fun when it was within the Arts and Crafts gamut (for me) Film Era, not so much digital era (for me) There are other far more important areas of Photography, the Documenters, the Social Commentators, the Photojournalists. I may have changed someones world. Other Photographers changed The / Our world. Photographers have a really important role to play in society, and it’s important to understand the history and historical context of Film Photography within this, and that Film is it’s own unique medium.
FujiFilm (who honour where they came from - the making of Film) are a largely Humanitarian Global concern now, with imaging being a smaller part of their business. All credit to them. Hopefully a camera maker will make a decent quality, affordable film camera again soon.
Hopefully 35mm SLR style.
Pentax Ricoh are talking about it, good for them. If they do it, and do it well, I’ll happily cheer lead for them.
